Father’s Day Stories…

Hard to believe my dad died 31 years ago, this month. I was 18. I know I was blessed for him to be around that long, as some never have a father in their life. But in the last 5 years of my dad’s life, he was not really around much as he often traveled the US in his van visiting his grown children. He was not even there for my high school graduation. Although a couple weeks before he died, he did take me to Dairy Queen, and that is one fond memory I do have.

Father’s Day is just another day for me because for me every day is Father’s Day. I am so blessed to have my family… I do not need a day to be recognized by Hallmark, or anyone else. The hugs I get from my kids are all I will ever need from them to help remind me to be the dad I want to be, to be the dad I didn’t have.
